Lucy Nandy studies complex environmental systems on a nano/micro scale based on thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and microscopy.
My research interests are based on aerosol science and technology, chemical thermodynamics, microfluidics, and physical/analytical chemistry. Projects include (1) physicochemical characterization of aerosol spray drug products (2) ice nucleation of aerosol particles using microscopy that includes surface characterization of nanomaterials (3) hygroscopicity (water uptake) and phase transitions of nanodroplet mixtures of inorganic-organic-water aerosol systems using statistical mechanics and microfluidic approaches (4) optical properties of nanoparticles (5) transmission and deposition of infectious aerosols in indoor environments.
